Living up to a commitment made in the early 1990s to gay and lesbian journalists to cover emerging LGBTI issues, the Mail & Guardian newspaper has announced a partnership with the Other Foundation, for a journalistic fellowship focusing on LGBTI issues across the region.

Carl Collison is the Other Foundation’s Rainbow Fellow at the Mail & Guardian. He is a writer, photographer and columnist with 14 years of experience in writing and editing, and has been appointed as the first Rainbow Fellow at the Mail & Guardian newspaper. In his career, Carl has contributed to local and international publications, including the City Press, Prestige Magazine and the UNESCO Courier.

Carl has contributed to the coverage and visibility of a wide range of LGBTI social issues, challenges and triumphs, profiling a cross-section of LGBTI individuals and groups as well as LGBTI allies in civil society, business, religion, sport and the arts across southern Africa.
